HUA HIN, May 22, 2024: A man and a woman are being treated for gunshot wounds at a hospital in Prachuap Khiri Khan province as police pursue the culprit in Tuesday’s shooting.
On May 22 at 9:30 PM, Police Lieutenant Sutat Majiao (รตท.สุทัศ มะเจี่ยว) of Cha-Am Police Station (สภ.ชะอำ), Phetchaburi Province (จ.เพชรบุรี), received a report of a shooting incident in Moo 7, Ban Nong Chang Yiab (บ้านหนองช้างเหยียบ), Rai Mai Pattana Subdistrict (ต.ไร่ใหม่พัฒนา), Cha-Am District (อ.ชะอำ).
Upon arriving at the scene, a two-story concrete house surrounded by banana and palm gardens, officers found a 43-year-old Thai woman from Hua Hin District (อ.หัวหิน), Prachuap Khiri Khan Province (จ.ประจวบ) hiding in the downstairs bathroom with a gunshot wound to her left buttock. Approximately 500 meters away in the banana garden, a 53-year-old Thai man from Cha-Am District, identified as Mr. Chalo, was found with a severe gunshot wound to his abdomen, causing his intestines to protrude. Rescue personnel and local officials transported both victims to Hua Hin Hospital.
Police Colonel Somkiat Chomchai (พ.ต.อ.สมเกียรติโฉมฉาย), Cha-Am Police Chief, conducted an investigation and identified the suspect as Mr. Siam, 44, a cousin of the male victim. The suspect fled the scene following the shooting.
The injured woman recounted that she and her husband were in the garden shelter when the suspect approached them and, without a word, began firing over 10 shots at them. They fled to seek help from neighbors, leading to their subsequent rescue and hospital transport.
Colonel Somkiat has ordered a special investigation team to urgently apprehend the suspect, deeming him a dangerous individual.
