June 3: Hat Wanakorn National Park in Thap Sakae District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, has announced the closure of the Koh Jaan (เกาะจาน) and Koh Thaitree (เกาะท้ายทรีย์) islands to tourism starting June 11. This decision comes in response to significant coral bleaching observed in the reefs around Charn Island. Additionally, June marks the lowest tides of the year, making snorkeling activities potentially damaging to the delicate marine ecosystem and hazardous for tourists.
The park authorities have stated that the closure is essential to allow the natural environment to recover and to ensure the safety of visitors. Once the coral bleaching situation improves and tidal conditions are more favorable for snorkeling, the park will reopen these areas to the public. In the meantime, tourists are still welcome to enjoy the other natural attractions within Hat Wanakorn National Park.
