Prachuap tourism officers consider HHQ-SIN route as push to restore Hua Hin international connectivity gains traction
PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: March 30, 2026 — Plans to launch direct flights between Hua Hin and Singapore are gaining renewed attention, as officials look to restore international connectivity at Prachuap Khiri Khan’s coastal airport.
The proposed route, aimed at boosting tourism and attracting regional travelers including golf visitors, comes at a time when Hua Hin Airport currently operates without any regular international services. The push marks a return to earlier ambitions, with AirAsia having previously operated direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Hua Hin beginning in May 2018, offering one of the airport’s first international links.
That service operated for several years before being discontinued during the Covid era, and no comparable international routes have since resumed, leaving travelers reliant on connections via Bangkok or other hubs.
Authorities are now working to reposition the airport as a regional gateway, with infrastructure upgrades and route development plans aimed at restoring international flights by 2026. The renewed Singapore proposal aligns with broader aviation plans previously reported by TriCove.Asia, including efforts to expand southern domestic connections, and reintroduce international services to Prachuap Khiri Khan, as previously reported here on TriCove.Asia.
According to a recent report in Hua Hin Today, Hua Hin airport (HHQ) is currently serving about 5,000 passengers a month with its sole domestic route operated by Thai Air Asia, linking the coastal province with Chiang Mai (CNX) in Northern Thailand.
The aprox. one-hour-and-twenty-minute route is serviced by Airbus aircraft that include four weekly flights each way, including flights AIQ3900 or FD3900 (CNX-HHQ) and FD3901 (HHQ-CNX).
