PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: At 2:00 PM on May 15, 2024, Pol. Lt. Col. Poomipat Pongboondee (พ.ต.ท.ภูมิพัฒน์ พงศ์บุณดี), Deputy Superintendent of Prevention and Suppression at Pranburi Police Station, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province (จ.ประจวบคีรีขันธ์), along with Pol. Sub. Lt. Wiriya Jiangwisert (พ.ต.ต.วิริยะ เจียงวิเสริฐ), Inspector of Prevention and Suppression, and Mr. Phetai Choyasit (นายเพทาย โชยะสิทธิ์), Head of Pranburi District Volunteers, conducted an inspection at a soil excavation site in Ban Nong Ka (บ้านหนองกา), located within the Pranburi Subdistrict Administrative Organization (อบต.ปราณบุรี). This site is situated adjacent to a large mountain in the village.
Local residents reported unauthorized soil excavation activities violating local laws and regulations, specifically the Subdistrict Administrative Organization’s excavation act (พรบ.การขุดตัก) and the Type 3 Factory Act (พรบ.โรงงานประเภท 3) from the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Industry Office. Upon inspection, the authorities found two 10-wheel trucks leaving the site and a backhoe loader and trailer truck attempting to flee the scene. The drivers were questioned regarding their presence at the site.
The site’s owner, a contractor involved in landfilling in Pranburi District, arrived to provide an initial explanation. The police requested the proper permits for soil, rock, and laterite excavation from the Subdistrict Administrative Organization and the Provincial Industry Office to be shown for verification. The large-scale excavation had raised concerns among local residents, prompting the authorities to investigate.
