KUIBURI DISTRICT, PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: At 9:00 AM on June 1, 2024, Police Captain Prasong Jaturat (พ.ต.ต.ประสงค์ จาตุรัตน์), an investigator from Kui Buri Police Station (สภ.กุยบุรี), received a report of a monk’s death at a temple in Moo 1, Kui Buri Subdistrict, Kui Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province (จ.ประจวบคีรีขันธ์). He immediately went to investigate along with doctors from Kui Buri Hospital and local rescue personnel.
The deceased, identified as Phra Venus (พระวีนัส), 21, from Ban Tha Kham, Kui Buri District, was found in his second-floor monastic cell. His body, lying on a bed, had been deceased for several hours, showing signs of decomposition. No signs of struggle or foul play were found.
Relatives revealed that Phra Venus, also known as Taek (แท็ค), had been a monk for over two years and suffered from diabetes and kidney disease. He missed a scheduled follow-up at Siriraj Hospital over a year ago and never rescheduled, likely due to fear of reprimand. This neglect of his health likely contributed to his passing.
Phra Yin and Phra Kas, fellow monks, discovered Phra Venus when they noticed his open door, which was unusual. After calling out to him without response, they entered and found him deceased. They mentioned that Phra Venus was typically reserved and did not socialize much, explaining why no one noticed his condition sooner.
