Hua Hin Airport upgrades to facilitate international flights connecting Prachuap Khiri Khan by next year
[April 22, 2025] Hua Hin Airport is set for a major upgrade with an investment of 300 million baht, aimed at resuming international flights by 2026. The Thai government and local authorities have committed to completing the necessary infrastructure improvements to bring the airport up to international standards, boosting tourism and economic activity in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

The first phase of the upgrade, which includes runway expansion and safety improvements, has already been completed. However, the second phase, scheduled to begin in January 2025, will involve the construction of a new international terminal, enhanced security systems, and the installation of modern passenger facilities.
Once the upgrades are completed, Hua Hin Airport will have the capacity to handle flights from major international destinations, making it an important gateway for tourists heading to the region. Local businesses are particularly excited about the potential economic benefits, including increased hotel bookings, more visitors to local attractions, and enhanced connectivity for both tourists and the business community.
This project reflects the region’s growing importance as a tourism hub in southern Thailand. With a rise in interest from international travelers, Hua Hin is positioning itself as a key destination for leisure, business, and eco-tourism. Once operational, the international flights are expected to have a significant impact on local industries, including hospitality, retail, and services.
