PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: Hua Hin Airport’s pivotal role in shaping the tourism landscape of Thailand’s lower central region takes center stage in the latest drive by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).
Positioned as a crucial gateway, Hua Hin Airport is undergoing significant upgrades to transform into an international hub by 2025, bolstering accessibility for travelers. This strategic focus aligns with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s directive to highlight the ‘4 Buri’ cities—Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Phetchaburi—as key tourism destinations. As TAT works to attract over 100 million trips to the region by year-end, the emphasis on Hua Hin Airport’s enhancements underscores its pivotal role in facilitating cross-regional tourism and showcasing the cultural and gastronomic treasures of the lower central region.
In line with the government’s aim to bolster local soft power and stimulate cross-regional tourism, TAT’s strategy involves leveraging established tourist cities like Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan as gateways to lesser-known gems, promoting a variety of cultural and gastronomic experiences across the region.
Phetchaburi, recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, showcases its culinary delights and cultural festivities, while Hua Hin Airport in Prachuap Khiri Khan emerges as a pivotal travel link connecting major destinations and hidden treasures in the lower central region. Each of the ‘4 Buri’ cities boasts unique cultural highlights, from Suphan Buri’s musical heritage to Ratchaburi’s local arts and crafts scene. With TAT aiming to attract over 100 million trips to the region by the end of the year, the lower central region of Thailand is poised to emerge as a premier tourism destination, offering enriching experiences and enhanced accessibility for global travelers.
