PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: In a coordinated effort to combat the ongoing drought affecting agricultural areas across Thailand, the Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation Department has launched cloud seeding operations in several provinces, including Prachuap Khiri Khan. The operations aim to provide much-needed rainfall for agricultural lands and to replenish water reservoirs throughout the country.
On August 2, 2024, cloud seeding flights targeted various drought-affected areas. In Prachuap Khiri Khan, the operation was focused on assisting agricultural areas and boosting water levels in reservoirs. The first flight of the day, conducted at 10:10 AM, covered the area from Kaeng Krachan District in Phetchaburi to Suan Phueng District in Ratchaburi. The second flight, conducted at 10:15 AM, focused on the area from Hua Hin to Kui Buri in Prachuap Khiri Khan. These efforts were part of a larger mission aimed at helping the upper southern region.

Alongside Prachuap Khiri Khan, cloud seeding operations are also taking place in the provinces of Khon Kaen, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Kanchanaburi, Uthai Thani, Suphan Buri, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi, and Chonburi. The primary goal of these missions is to support agricultural production and ensure that essential water resources, including reservoirs and dams, are replenished in preparation for the upcoming dry season.
The cloud seeding flights are reportedly part of ongoing efforts to mitigate the impacts of drought, which has affected numerous provinces this year. The operations also play a critical role in enhancing food security and providing sustainable water resources for communities and farms.
